Watershed Premium Wines

Western Australia | Margaret River

Our Review

Watershed Wines was first set up by a syndicate of investors, with no expense spared in establishing the substantial vineyard and striking cellar door, with a 200-seat cafe and restaurant. Situated towards the southern end of the Margaret River region, its neighbours included Voyager Estate and Leeuwin Estate. The vineyard development occurred in 3 stages (2001, ’04 and ’06), the last in Jindong, well to the north of stages one and two. The first stage of the winery was completed prior to the ’03 vintage, with a capacity of 400t, increased the following year to 900t, then another expansion in ’05 to 1200t. March ’08 saw the crush capacity reach 1600t; wine storage facilities have increased in lockstep with the crush capacity, lifted by a further 170 000kl. Watershed Wines was acquired by Vasse Felix in 2018 and operated till 2020. The business is no longer in operation. -JAMES HALLIDAY
