As it turned out, ’23 was a watershed moment at Cape Mentelle, a Margaret River pioneer. One of the worst-kept wine secrets came to fruition: Endeavour Group bought the business, which had been under the umbrella of Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy for more than 30 years. But personally, we had even better news in late ’22 with Eloise Jarvis coming on as senior winemaker. Why? Her first vintage job was at Cape Mentelle in ’96. She loves the place. Super smart, skilled, dedicated and passionate, it bodes well. There’s an excellent team working with her and great vineyards, too. -JANE FAULKNER

Just 4km from town on the way to the beach. Join us for seated tastings in our historic barrel hall or book in for a Behind the Scenes Tour and Tasting. A photo display of Cape Mentelle’s history is hung in the rammed-earth Barrel Hall behind the cellar door that is open to anyone keen to immerse themselves in the growth of one of the Margaret River's founding five wineries.
Swings, a drawing table for children, picnic tables in our garden and traditional french pétanque lanes are also available to make your visit to our Estate memorable. Bookings required for private experiences.
