Goodman Wines

Kate Goodman started her winemaking career in McLaren Vale and the Clare Valley, thereafter spending 7 years winemaking at Seppelt in the Grampians. In ‘00 she became chief winemaker at Punt Road Wines and remained there until ’14, when she left to set up Goodman Wines, leasing a winery together with fellow winemaker Caroline Mooney (of Bird on a Wire). Using some lead time planning, and with the knowledge and approval of Punt Road’s owners, she had made wines over the ’12 and ’13 vintages, all from mature Upper Yarra Valley vineyards. From ’17 she is also winemaker for Penley Estate and Zonzo Estate. -JAMES HALLIDAY
