Pfeiffer Wines

Victoria | Rutherglen | Bangerang

Our Review

Family-owned and -run, Pfeiffer Wines occupies one of the historic wineries (built in 1885) that abound in North East Victoria, which is worth a visit on this score alone. In 2012 Chris Pfeiffer was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his services to the wine industry. Both hitherto and into the future, Pfeiffer’s Muscats, Topaques and other fortified wines are a key part of the business. The arrival of daughter Jen, by a somewhat circuitous and initially unplanned route, has dramatically lifted the quality of the table wines, led by the reds. Chris Pfeiffer celebrated his 50th vintage in '23, having well and truly set the scene for supremely gifted daughter Jen to assume the chief winemaking role. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Information

Are you looking for a place where you can immerse yourself in nature and simply enjoy the sound of silence, where the air is clean and fresh, the skies are tall and there is plenty of space to enjoy a Sunday afternoon drink in a unique Australian setting?
Would you like to step back in time and smell the wine being made as you walk into the winery, or just soak up that sense of wine history that surrounds you as you taste an exquisite range of award-winning wines in an historic cellar door?
Uncover all of these things and more with a visit to Pfeiffer Wines. Book a Seated Tasting Experience to explore the large range of premium wines produced by father and daughter winemaking team, Chris and Jen Pfeiffer. Enjoy the unique, rich and sensuous Rutherglen muscats and topaques in a Classification Tasting. Carefully craft your own blend and become a Muscat Master Blender along the way or even picnic on the 'pfamous' Sunday Creek bridge with a pre-booked Picnic Hamper ... and if the season is right, you can even feed some turtles.
Bookings for Seated Wine Tasting Experiences are encouraged but not required. If it is busy and you have not booked, we may need to serve you outside on the verandah. If it is really busy, we may not even have space for you on our verandah or in our caskroom, and we may need to ask you to come back at a different time. If you do not wish to participate in a Seated Tasting, you are still very welcome to enjoy a glass or bottle of Pfeiffer wine in our beautiful grounds. There are plenty of wooden outdoor tables and stools and bookings for these tables are not required. Bookings are required for seating on our Sunday Creek Bridge. The cost is $5pp (complimentary for Pfeiffer Wine Club members and their guests). We are a working winery, and our Sunday Creek Bridge is our access to our Sunday Creek Vineyard. For this reason, seating on our Sunday Creek Bridge is only available on the weekends and public holidays. Please note, we are NOT able to provide a Seated Wine Tasting Experience on our Sunday Creek Bridge.
