Our Review
Quartz Hill was established in 1995, with Shane and Michelle Mead relocating from Melbourne to run their vineyard in ’99. After growing grapes for other wine labels for many years, the first Quartz Hill wine came onto the market in ’09. Winemaking is a family effort, with brother Darrin Gaffy from Principia on the Mornington Peninsula (see separate entry) as winemaker. Grenache and touriga have been added to the shiraz, viognier and mencia plantings. The cellar door and winery opened in '21. -JAMES HALLIDAY
