Our Review
This is the venture of the Gough family, with industry veteran (and daughter) Sarah Gough managing the vineyard, winemaking and marketing. Having started with 10ha each of shiraz and cabernet sauvignon under contract to Brown Brothers, Sarah decided to switch the focus to what could loosely be called ‘Mediterranean varieties’. These days shiraz and prosecco (glera) are the main varieties, with smaller plantings of pinot gris, primitivo, vermentino, roussanne, sousão, grenache, nebbiolo, negroamaro, mourvèdre and viognier. -JAMES HALLIDAY
Specialities
I have made my speciality the Rhone varietals — shiraz, roussanne and viognier. In recent years I have added the Italian varietals prosecco, vermentino and primitivo.

For the second year in a row, Box Grove's one-of-a-kind Osteria has received a 'Best Cellar Door Award' from Australia's leading writers at Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine. Open by appointment, the Osteria is a place where you can quietly savour a glass of their Prosecco or Primitivo and drink in the view. Views which change with each season—fresh greens in Spring, golden hues and gentle breezes in Summer, reds and russets as the leaves start turning in Autumn—and there’s always a roaring fire ready to welcome you in Winter. Inspired by tradition, featuring wines grown and made with passion on their vineyard and simple food from the farm or sourced locally, the Osteria at Box Grove Vineyard is open for tastings or to host lunches prepared by visiting chefs, for demonstrations and workshops, or for small weddings and private functions.
