Our Review
Quietly spoken and charming, Nat and Rosalie White founded the first commercial winery on the Mornington Peninsula. It has an immaculately maintained vineyard and equally meticulously run winery. In Dec ‘15, ownership of Main Ridge Estate passed to the Sexton family, following the retirement of Nat and Rosalie after 40 years. Tim and Libby Sexton have an extensive background in large-scale hospitality, first in the UK, then with Zinc at Federation Square, Melbourne and at the MCG. Son James Sexton is now head winemaker and is nearing completion of his wine science degree studies at CSU. Nat continues as a consultant. -JAMES HALLIDAY
About
The Mornington Peninsulas first commercial winery, established in 1975, sits in a quiet and picturesque valley at 230 metres above sea level on Arthurs Seat. The small 3 hectare cool climate vineyard of 40 year old vines is situated on North facing slopes of rich volcanic soil.
Wines are made only from estate grown fruit.
The Sexton family live and work onsite, ownership having passed in 2015 from local winemaking pioneers Nat and Rosalie White. Nat continues as a mentor to winemaker James Sexton.
