Our Review
Like many Italian-Australians in the King Valley, the Cavedon family were originally tobacco growers before moving into grape growing. Dino Cavedon took up grapes in '77 planting in-demand varieties such as riesling, chardonnay, shiraz and merlot. Later, a visit to see family in Italy saw him return with new enthusiasm for Italian grape varieties and he planted pinot grigio, barbera and sangiovese for local wine producers. In '18, Dino’s daughter, Pia, and son-in-law, Gabe, moved to the King Valley to carry on his life’s work, founding Cavedon Wines. They produce single-vineyard wines made with minimal intervention in styles well suited to Mediterranean cuisine, the type of wines they grew up on. -JENI PORT
