Wirruna Park Winery

Geelong surgeon Richard Rahdon, and Katharine, purchased the 4.5ha property some years ago; it used to be the Wirruna Garden Nursery, and has 1ha of established traditional gardens. In 2009 they transplanted five-year-old pinot gris vines from Portarlington. This is not an easy task, but it succeeded, producing a small crop in '12. They plan to plant more pinot gris and pinot noir; in the meantime they have taken responsibility for a neighbour's vineyard, planted to pinot noir. -JAMES HALLIDAY
