Tarcoola Estate

The 7.2ha vineyard was planted between 1972 and '74. When Keith Wood who worked for Seppelt at Great Western, purchased the property in 1990, the winery and the vineyard needed rehabilitation. He decided to gain experience working weekends at other vineyards in 1990 and '91; during that time he met wife-to-be Annelies, who took over the resurrection of the vineyards. Between 1991 and '96 the grapes were sold; from 1997 to '99 wine was made in bulk, but also sold; and it was not until the 2000 vintage that Keith Wood made the wine for sale by Tarcoola Estate (Muller Thurgau, Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon). -JAMES HALLIDAY
