Coastal Estate Vineyard

Winter trips to Falls Creek have taken innumerable skiers into Brown Brothers' cellar door at Milawa. Suzanne and Colin Paton's visits began in the early 1990s as 20-year-olds, and it changed their perspective on wine forever. Colin began studies in viticulture at Dookie, and then at Charles Sturt University to complete his degree, coupled with working in the Yarra Valley for periods of time, and coming into the Sergio Carlei orbit. Counterintuitively, it is in fact Suzanne who has taken on the role of winemaker and sales. The vineyard is planted to 2ha of pinot noir with MV6 and 115 clones, 1.5ha sauvignon blanc, 1ha shiraz and 0.1ha montepulciano. -JAMES HALLIDAY
