Callie Jemmeson has the sort of background that many young winemakers would give their right arm for, as she has crammed so much into a relatively young life. Callie has grown up with wine in her blood, her father David with a lifetime of experience in the industry. A family holiday in Chianti and tastings at Louis Roederer in Champagne set the spark when Callie was still very young. However, she studied psychology and criminology at Melbourne University, then qualified as a chef, and thereafter fell to the lure of grapegrowing and winemaking. She is currently studying wine science at CSU (the extension course) and has already gained experience working at De Bortoli in the Yarra Valley, Littorai Wines in Sonoma, California, Fattoria Zerbina in Emilia Romagne, Italy, and Lavau in the Rh?ne Valley. -JAMES HALLIDAY
