BREMLEY

Whilst wrapping up their careers in the Royal Australian Navy, Vanessa and James Bresnehan turned their attention to a 2ha chardonnay site in the Coal River Valley. Initial ambitions saw the couple resurrect the original vineyard, planted in 2000 and subsequently introduce new plantings of pinot noir and chardonnay to facilitate supply agreements with Penfolds. Both site selection and dedication paid off: the chardonnay has become a mainstay component of Yattarna. Pinot blanc and gamay plantings were added in ’19, and before long the duo joined forces with Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley of Bubb & Pooley (see separate entry) with a vision to create single vineyard wines of purity and grace – thus the label BREMLEY was born. -KATRINA BUTLER
