Our Review
The friends in question are Tim and Penny Dunbabin, Ian and Brigid Ritchie, and David Dunbabin and Michele Klok, with Tim and Penny's involvement central to the venture, as they own the property on which the vineyard of pinot noir has been planted. It began 11 years ago when a shared love of wine (and shared bottles) led to the idea that it would be ‘wonderful to grow our own wine'. The friends did all the work in preparing the ground, establishing the trellis system, planting the vines and looking after the pruning. Winemaker Alain Rousseau visits the vineyard each year and has been a tower of strength in pointing the friends in the right direction. The 2010 and '11 vintages both won silver medals. -JAMES HALLIDAY
