South Australia | Piccadilly Valley

Our Review

Tapanappa was founded by Brian Croser in 2002. The word Tapanappa is probably derived from the local Aboriginal language and likely translates to ‘stick to the path’. Through Tapanappa, Brian is continuing a career-long mission of matching the climate, soil and geology of distinguished sites to the right varieties, and then developing and managing the vineyards to optimise quality. Tapanappa is dedicated to producing unique ‘wines of terroir’ from its 3 distinguished sites in SA with its winery located in the heart of the Piccadilly Valley. The brand’s components are the Whalebone Vineyard at Wrattonbully (planted to cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and merlot in 1974), the Tiers Vineyard at Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills (chardonnay) and the Foggy Hill Vineyard on the southern tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula (pinot noir). Exports to Canada, Europe, Sweden, the UK, Hong Kong, Japan and the UAE. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Tapanappa is the 21st century chapter of an adventure that started more than 40 years ago when Brian Croser arrived in the Piccadilly Valley and pioneered the modern era of the Adelaide Hills wine region. Tapanappa was founded in 2002 by Brian to continue his mission of identifying distinguished sites for distinguished varieties. Tapanappa now has three distinguished sites from which it's fine wines are produced:

The original Tiers Vineyard planted with Chardonnay in the Piccadilly Valley in 1979
Foggy Hill Vineyard planted with Pinot Noir at Parawa on the Fleurieu Peninsula in 2003
Whalebone Vineyard planted with Cabernet and associated varieties in Wrattonbully in 1974
