Kay Brothers is a traditional family winery with a rich history dating back to 1890. One of 5 wineries in the Vale with vines planted in the 1880s (the others being Paxton, Ox Hardy, Richard Hamilton and d’Arenberg), the 20ha estate includes the original 1.5ha of Block 6 shiraz vines planted in 1892. The full-flavoured red and fortified wines can be particularly good. Both vines and wines are going from strength to strength here. -HALLIDAY TEAM
shiraz, grenache, cabernet sauvignon, mataro
The winery boasts panoramic views of vineyards, valleys and the Mount Lofty Ranges from their brand new viewing deck, as well as an impressive list of wines, including the signature Block 6 Shiraz, as well as fortifieds, which makes their cellar door a must visit location to relax and enjoy the best of McLaren Vale.
Five different tasting flights are available. Tours through the heritage cellars can be organised by individual booking.
While tasting your way through our premium wines, we can keep the children busy with their own ‘kids pack’ which contains snacks, a drink and activities including colouring sheets and pencils. We also have a small nature play area, outside blackboard and plenty of space for a picnic. Enjoy the extensive lawns with plenty of shade and outside toys for the children.
