The Backline label falls under the aegis of Three Kings Wine Merchants, a collaboration between winemaker Ben Riggs, former Wallaby Nathan Sharpe and ex-LVMH marketeer, David Krenich. With no cellar door, sales rely on an online shopping portal, drawing on a broad network of celebrity support. The wines are largely reliant on McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek sources, marked with salubrious oak and plenty of extract at the pointy end of the hierarchy. -NED GOODWIN MW
