Our Review
You might wonder how a 6ha vineyard on the secluded north coast of Kangaroo Island has been named Snow Dragon, particularly given that the vineyard was previously known as Cape D'Estaing. In 2009, Andrew and Sue Bigwood purchased the vineyard from the founding quartet who, after 14 years of highly successful operation, decided to go their separate ways. Sue grew up on Kangaroo Island, and says, ‘The swell of the ocean runs through my veins.' Her snowboarding husband Andrew now lives and works (as a General Practitioner) on the Island with their sons, Kai and Shalin, together with dragon dogs Rafiki and Ruby. Sue retired from an amazing zoo vet career, to be house-mother and manage the vineyard and marketing. Both Sue and Andrew were involved in grape to bottle activities in another winery, and have translated their skills to Snow Dragon, the major change being going biodynamic. And their holidays? The snow fields of NSW. -JAMES HALLIDAY
