Mesh is the profound yet unlikely weaving together of the skills, knowledge and ideas of 2 names arguably more obsessive about South Australian riesling than any other: Robert Hill-Smith (5th-generation custodian of Yalumba) and Clare Valley legend Jeffrey Grosset. Their simple mandate is to champion Eden Valley riesling in a single wine. Fruit is sourced from 2 vineyards planted in '44 and '82 at 425m elevation. The result is as legendary as its story anticipates, though unfairly (yet perhaps inevitably) never seems to enjoy quite the limelight enjoyed by Hill-Smith and Grosset’s own rieslings. -TYSON STELZER
