Haslemere Wines

South Australia | Eden Valley

Our Review

Haslemere Wines had its origins in 1993, when John Wade's father, Bob Wade, and friend Brian Miles planted their Eden Valley vineyard. Bob Wade died later that year, and since that time John has worked with Brian to manage the site. Brian in turn passed away in 2014, and his son Peter is now in charge of viticulture. The vineyard (chardonnay, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, riesling and sauvignon blanc) had been under long-term contract with Treasury Wine Estates. John is now taking a small part of the production of the vineyard to grow and make a little over 1200 dozen bottles of wine a year. Mark Maxwell has been appointed contract winemaker, John describing him as ?my guiding star - a great palate and a top operator'. -JAMES HALLIDAY
