Banks Thargo Wines

South Australia | Coonawarra

Our Review

The unusual name comes from a convoluted family history spanning more than 150 years. Thomas Kidman ‘retired' from the outback, and in 1919 bought this property. His second son was named Banks Thargomindah Kidman, and it was he and wife Genny who decided to diversify their grazing activities by planting vines in the '80s: most is sold, leaving 1ha each of merlot and cabernet sauvignon for the Banks Thargo brand. Ownership has now passed to Genny, Jon and Heather Kidman. -JAMES HALLIDAY
