Shut the Gate is the venture of Richard Woods and Rasa Fabian, which took shape after 5 years’ involvement in the rebranding of Crabtree Watervale Wines, followed by 18 months of juggling consultancy roles. During this time Richard and Rasa set the foundations for Shut the Gate. The engine room of the business is the Clare Valley, where with considerable care the wines are made and the grapes for many of the wines are sourced. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Their award winning Cellar Doors have built a reputation for being a comfortable yet quirky tasting experience with beautiful fit outs and engaging staff.
Their Cellar Door and Providore Store is housed in a historic cottage at the entrance to the beautiful Watervale village, Clare Valley, South Australia. Pop in for a chat, share some stories, a glass of local vino and chill in the garden.
Visit their new Cellar Door recently opened in Berridale on the Jindabyne Rd in the NSW Snowy Mountains featuring wines from the alpine region of Tumbarumba.
