Kooky Village

Much of Nathan Burley’s career in the wine industry has been spent alongside Chris Ringland, from his first vintage at Rockford in ’98 to joining Ringland Vintners in ’04 as sales and distribution manager, and co-founding North Barossa Vintners in ’10 with Chris and Adrian Hoffmann. But throughout it all, his solo project, Kooky Village, has been quietly ticking along, too. Established in ’05, just one wine, the One Blue Eye Shiraz, is currently released under this label. Grown on his own 6.5ha vineyard in Flaxman Valley, it’s made in the lighter, fresher style his wife, Sally, loves: picked early and whole-bunch fermented, with short oak maturation and little to no sulphur.
