Haan Estate

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

Established in 1993 by the Haan Family, Haan Estate is enjoying a revival under the direction of George Zaal and associate Mingrong Meng of Shanghai. The estate vineyard is planted to shiraz (5.3ha), merlot (3.4ha), cabernet sauvignon (3ha), viognier (2.4ha), cabernet franc (1ha) and malbec, petit verdot and semillon (0.4ha each). Oak use is determined by the vintage and the wines are matured for up to 24 months in new and used barrels and puncheons. The oak undoubtedly plays a role in the shaping of the style of the Haan wines, but it is perfectly integrated and the wines have the fruit weight to carry the oak. Exports to Switzerland, Czech Republic and other markets. -JAMES HALLIDAY
