Our Review
Avinta is the personal project of Barossa Valley Estates winemaker and general manager, Ryan Waples. Old-vine shiraz, from a 70yo vineyard, forms the core of the offering, planted from cuttings saved from the pruning efforts of a family member in 1951 on the famous Gramps vineyard. It is a deep, resonant wine; etched deeply with the traditional structure one expects from the Barossa but with a contemporary, polished feel. The production is limited, but this is definitely a producer to scribble down as ‘one to watch’. -DAVE BROOKES
