Rosalie House Vineyard

Doyle and Vicki Thompson are ex cotton farmers from the Moree district of NSW. In the early 1990s they sold their farm and purchased Rosalie House on the outskirts of Toowoomba, where their three daughters went to boarding school. Initially they continued with contract work on farms, along the way owning three hotels, selling the last in '13. In '05 they planted 0.5ha each of shiraz and chardonnay, 0.4ha grenache and 0.2ha of viognier, making their first wine in '08. They are at the point of finishing building the cellar door and farmhouse restaurant (Vicki is a chef) which are expected to open in the spring of '16. -JAMES HALLIDAY
