4382 Terroir

Queensland | Granite Belt

Our Review

Rob Davidson and his family are the driving force behind the 4382 Terroir label. They established their vineyard in ’18, only to lose half of it in the ’19 bushfire season. The vineyard was subsequently replanted, and Rob and his partner Judy continue on their vigneron journey. The 4382 in the winery name is the postcode of Ballandean. Originally, the project focused only on wines from that postcode, but recent fruit shortfalls have seen 4382 Terroir sourcing fruit from Riverland to supplement the existing Granite Belt range. Lesser-sung varieties underpin 4382 Terroir, including saperavi, arinto, sagrantino, durif, lagrein and fernão pires, among more common semillon and mourvèdre. The diversity is writ large for this ambitious and dynamic project. -MIKE BENNIE
