When speaking of New Zealand pinot noir, Grant Taylor’s name will be at the forefront of the conversation and his Gibbston Valley winery, Valli, is at the pointy end of the Central Otago wine pyramid. Grant established Valli in 1998 after many years of working in the US, Australia and France. Since 2015, winemaker Jen Parr has joined, making for a formidable team. The wines are top notch and come from the Gibbston, Bannockburn and Bendigo sub-regions as well as Grant’s beloved Waitaki Valley. Beautifully made wines that speak clearly of place and the passion of the people making them. -JAMES HALLIDAY
