ChaLou Wines

New South Wales | Orange | Wiradjuri Country

Our Review

ChaLou is a collaborative project between winemakers Steve Mobbs and Nadja Wallington. They met at university before gleaning ample experience in different parts of the globe. Serendipitously, they reunited in Orange in ’14 with a genuine love of farming and each other. The proprietary vineyard is in Orange, sited at circa 900m elevation. Varieties planted there include riesling, chardonnay, pinot noir, pinot gris, shiraz, viognier, sauvignon blanc and arneis, with warmer-climate varieties grenache, mourvèdre, petit verdot and a bit more viognier sourced from a Canowindra site at 400m, certified organic. The estate range is complemented by a less expensive Dreaded Friend line. These are sassy, fresh and eminently approachable expressions.
