Bill and Vicki Widin purchased the substantial 1960s-planted Brokenback vineyard in ’07, the original 50ha comprising semillon, chardonnay and shiraz. By ’13, they’d built a winery and cellar door; a suite of 20 luxury villas was built in ’22. Over time, they’ve added verdelho, pinot gris, gewürztraminer and tempranillo to the original vineyard. In ’16 Leogate purchased a 61ha certified-organic vineyard at Gulgong (Mudgee) planted to shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Leogate acquired the Black Cluster vineyard in ’20. It’s predominantly planted to old-vine shiraz, with some semillon in tow. -HALLIDAY TEAM

Situated at the foot of the picturesque Brokenback Range it’s hard to miss the striking visage that is Leogate Estate.
The opulent cellar door is the perfect place to enjoy that unique taste that only the Hunter Valley and our award-winning wines can provide. From intimate fireside tastings in winter to relaxing alfresco tastings overlooking the ranges in summer, our cellar door staff will make sure your visit is an experience to remember.
To complement your Cellar Door visit, the estate also offers a more relaxed experience in The Lion’s Den Lounge, featuring a small plates menu alongside handcrafted cocktails and a curated selection of beverages - perfect for casual catchups or pre-dinner drinks.
Enjoy a hosted tasting of six wines. Tastings are $10 per person, with group bookings (10 people and above) at $20 per person. Bookings are essential. Simply reserve online or call (02) 4998 7499.

At Leogate Estate's fine dining restaurant, The Gates, every dish is crafted to inspire. Guests may choose from two- and three-course menus, vegan and vegetarian options, a children's menu. or our premium degustation menu, each thoughtfully paired with Leogate's award-winning wines.
Dine in our elegant dining room or enjoy alfresco service on the terrace, where sweeping views of the Brokenback Ranges provide the perfect backdrop for a leisurely lunch or intimate evening.
