Monument Vineyard

In the early 1990s five mature-age students at CSU, successful in their own professions, decided to form a partnership to develop a substantial vineyard and winery. After a lengthy search, a large property at Cudal was identified, with ideal terra rossa basalt-derived soil over a limestone base. The property has just under 100ha under vine, planted in 1998 and '99. Ten years later in 2009, brothers Andrew, Phillip and Stephen Jones acquired the business, which also includes a state-of-the-art cage-free poultry farm, and over 100 head of cattle. -JAMES HALLIDAY
