Welcome to Halliday at Home, an educational content series exploring some of Australia’s most highly rated wineries, with commentary by Amelia Ball, editor of Halliday magazine, and James Halliday.
This first pack contains three diverse styles – a South Australian shiraz blend, a Tasmanian pinot noir, and a Victorian chardonnay.
To enjoy Halliday at Home, ready your wines from Vintage Cellars, and watch the corresponding video below as you taste, discovering each bottle’s unique characteristics and regional and winemaking influences.
The latest tasting note from Halliday Wine Companion: A 51/32/17% blend, the components sourced from various districts that produce high-quality fruit. Standard vinification, then matured for 15 months with 10% new French hogsheads, the remainder 3-6yo barrels. It’s a powerful wine in the context of ’17, old vines doing what they have done for the last 50+ years. JH.
Pair this wine with slow-cooked meats and Middle Eastern flavours. Try this recipe for oven-braised lamb shanks with creamy polenta.

The latest tasting note from Halliday Wine Companion: This is the definition of thrills with a chill! Once medicinal, this cuvee has warped into the sort of ethereal wine to be drunk in large drafts. While it may not work perfectly with everything, it will handle pretty much anything that comes its way but for a raw oyster. Bing cherry, wild raspberry and a gentle weave of pulpy, kitten tongue bunchy tannin, delivering the prerequisite zap of energy to the finish. NG.
Pair this wine with fragrant Asian dishes, such as this recipe for Chinese five-spice duck.

The latest tasting note from Halliday Wine Companion: Straw-coloured but fresh with both stone fruit flavour and tips of sweet/spicy/toasty oak. Generous in general but tidy throughout. Finish is sound and, if anything, extends a touch beyond expectation. Reliably good. CM.
