With insufficient numbers to warrant their own category this year, sauvignon blanc semillon blends join this category. Method and madness define the vast expanse of diversity in Australia’s other whites and blends as much as a broad spectrum of varietal and regional distinctiveness. With seven different varieties and a dozen approaches on the table, this represented the most diverse and hotly debated category in our Awards judging. With a plethora of new names and techniques at play, it’s fitting that a longstanding champion of the great varieties of Italy should take out the mantle of Other White of the Year.
