2022 Varietal Winners

Top Rated: Cabernet and Family

By The Tasting Team
Cabernet and family embraces cabernet-dominant blends as well as other Bordeaux varieties and their blends. Margaret River again reigns supreme, putting forward as many highlights as every other region put together, with the Yarra Valley responsible for half of the balance. Malbec, merlot and cabernet franc all come out to play in force here, but ultimately prove to be no match for blends led by the distinguished cabernet sauvignon itself. It was a Yarra Valley taste-off for the 2022 Cabernet and Family of the Year, with Mount Mary and Yarra Yering neck and neck. Yarra Yering does it again! And goes all the way to win both Red Wine of the Year and the Wine of the Year, too. Game over.
