Sandy Gray Whisky Company Limoncello
The aroma of freshly cut, slightly green lemons straight off the tree dominates the nose on this lovely Tasmanian limoncello, with no hint of soapiness despite the relatively high ABV of 30%. The lemon is incredibly well-integrated into the spirit, and no harsh edges nor alcohol burn on the nose. I’d think a lemon was being juiced under my nose if I were blindfolded. The silky palate has all the texture you want from a limoncello without the sugar being at all overpowering. The balance here is perfect, with lingering, soft bitterness counteracting the up-front sweetness, leaving you salivating and wanting another sip. It smells like fresh lemon and tastes like freshly made country lemonade—a very well-made and dangerously easy-to-drink limoncello indeed.
