Robbers Dog Vodka
This vodka is one of the few in Australia produced from a spirit made in-house at this small craft distillery in the Barossa. Most vodka is produced from neutral grain spirit that small distilleries buy in from much larger distilleries, because making a clean, neutral spirit is something that generally requires a big commercial facility. Instead, Robbers Dog makes its vodka from scratch from a combination of wheat and sugar, resulting in a product that bears little resemblance to the imported vodkas on the shelf at your local bottle shop. Rather than being clean and neutral on the nose, this spirit is lively and sweet-smelling, like that popcorn dusted in coloured sugar you get at the Show. But it also has a clean, approachable palate and an equally clean finish, meaning this will absolutely work in most common vodka applications like cocktails and simple mixed drinks, just perhaps not in a martini.
