Blackwattle Distilling Co Resplendent Gin
Made with a singular focus – to produce a gin lauding Sri Lankan spices and flavour – this spirit has an indissoluble character. With a cacophony of spice, cumin is the first to really make itself known and punches through the other weighty botanicals to envelop the nose and the front of the palate. With a distinct green-ness to the spice, curry leaf rounds the corner next and draws out the palate further. That oily, leafy flavour works well to give some of the other spices a platform to stand on, while the brighter notes begin to stand out and help freshen up the spirit. The juniper within the gin doesn't stand out too greatly among the heavy spices used, and the drying aspect of pepper and coriander makes the oiliness often brought out with juniper moot. However, with this gin showcasing so much clear intention, it sits in the more modern style where juniper may take a backseat in order for the clarity of intention to come forward.
