Exploratory, vital and unconquered – Australian chenin blanc is not easily summed-up. Get to know this chameleon variety with these three excellent local examples.

Sweet, dry or even sparkling, chenin blanc is best described as a blank canvas. Australian styles range from floral and fruity, to zesty and fresh – try the following delicious and diverse drops for a taste of the full flavour spectrum.

2019 Vino Volta Funky and Fearless Chenin Blanc
Lime pith, preserved lemon, developing toasty, honeyed, and mealy characters synonymous with the variety. Textured, finishing with citrus acidity and a lick of salinity. A perfect accompaniment to freshly shucked oysters.

    RRP $35 | 2025 |

2020 Paul Conti Wines Tuart Block Chenin Blanc
Lifted tropical fruit flavours on the nose with hints of apricot and peachy aromatics. A linear and fresh palate with natural acidity underscores this wine, followed by a long clean finish. Pair with Mediterranean dishes or classic antipasto spreads.

    RRP $18 | 2027 |

2019 tripe.iscariot Absolution Wilyabrup Chenin Blanc
White pear, dried hay and jasmine on the nose, dotted with hints of nutmeg, lime zest and verbena. A focused and coating palate of white stone fruit and natural acidity drive to a bristling mineral finish – delicious with hard cheeses, sashimi or steak tartare.

    RRP $30 | 2026 |
