Hosting Easter lunch or dinner is a huge undertaking. Between getting the house prepared, organising a menu that suits all your guests, cooking, pouring wine, and keeping everyone entertained before having to clean up, there isn't much time to actually enjoy yourself.
The best way to escape this hassle is to book a restaurant instead. But where to go? We suggest escaping the city, either with a partner or group of friends, to a local wine region, where you can dine overlooking rolling vineyards, and then while away the hours after in a cellar door.
To help you find and book a brilliant Easter out, we’ve rounded up eight wineries with restaurants and/or cellar doors in Northern Tasmania, Southern Tasmania, Mornington Peninsula, Rutherglen, McLaren Vale and the Yarra Valley. Find them all here.
Delamere Vineyards
Delamere Vineyards say: Easter at Delamere is a quietly captivating time, as vintage approaches and the vineyard shifts into autumn. There is a sense of anticipation in the air, paired with a calm, seasonal beauty across the estate. Guests are invited to explore curated tasting flights that highlight the nuance, structure and site expression of our cool-climate wines, presented in a thoughtful and unhurried way.
Alongside this, our pick-your-own-picnic pantry offers a refined selection of Tasmanian produce, perfect for enjoying in the garden. It is an immersive, relaxed experience that encourages guests to slow down, savour and connect with the vineyard during one of its most compelling periods.
H. What makes your cellar door unique?
DV. Delamere is a true wine estate in the classical sense – a family-owned grower-producer, where every wine is cultivated, crafted and bottled on-site at our Pipers River vineyard. Planted exclusively to pinot noir and chardonnay on ironstone-rich soils, the vineyard is managed entirely by hand, yielding wines of precision, depth and a strong sense of place.
Our cellar door, set alongside the working winery, offers an intimate and relaxed tasting experience shaped by the rhythms of a small, hands-on team. As a family operation, there is an authenticity to each visit, with guests often engaging directly with those who grow and make the wines. With a focus on craftsmanship, seasonality and genuine hospitality, the experience is unhurried and personal, offering a true connection to place, from vine to glass.
H. Do you cater for groups?
DV. Delamere offers a refined cellar door experience rather than a traditional restaurant, centred on thoughtfully guided tastings and relaxed, self-paced visits. Over the Easter period, we welcome small groups of family and friends, with reservations recommended to ensure a seamless experience during this highly sought-after time.
Our expansive outdoor spaces, paired with the curated pick-your-own pantry, are ideally suited to shared, informal gatherings. Guests are encouraged to settle in, graze and enjoy the surrounds at their own pace. For larger groups, bespoke arrangements can be made in advance, with each experience tailored around exceptional wine, generous space and an atmosphere of relaxed elegance.

‘The Dining Room’ Red Hill & Lindenderry Estate Cellar Door
Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill say: Lindenderry Estate anchors the Easter long weekend at Lancemore Lindenderry Red Hill, with a considered mix of experiences across its 34 acres of gardens and vines. From hatted dining at The Dining Room to a seafood-focused Sunday lunch, alongside relaxed cellar door pizzas and family-friendly egg hunts, it moves easily between occasion and ease, spanning the spectrum from dressed-up to laid-back, exactly as a four-day weekend should.
Good Friday and Saturday (3–4 April): The Dining Room will be open for both lunch and dinner across Friday and Saturday, presenting seasonal dishes inspired by Mornington Peninsula produce. The Cellar Door will also be open with a wood-fired pizza menu so you can enjoy a glass of wine and settle in as the long weekend unfolds. This season, the Dining Room unveiled its on-premise kitchen garden, providing a full circle experience from vineyard to glass and produce to plate – the whole cycle within meters of each other.
Easter Sunday (5 April): This is the standout day. The Dining Room is hosting a special seafood-focused lunch highlighting fresh coastal flavours and seasonal ingredients. And, if you've got kids in tow, little guests are invited to explore the grounds for a classic Easter egg hunt across the property, with hidden surprises among the gardens and lawns.
Easter Monday (6 April): The Cellar Door is open for a relaxed final day of the long weekend. Our popular wood-fired pizza menu will be available, perfect for a casual lunch with friends and family. A lovely low-key way to wind down the long weekend with a glass of estate wine among the vines.
H. What makes your restaurant and cellar door unique?
LLRH. Set across 34 acres of gardens and vines in the heart of Red Hill, Lancemore Lindenderry offers two distinct yet connected experiences. The Dining Room, awarded two hats and Readers' Choice by the Australian Good Food Guide four years running, presents menus shaped by season and place, showcasing Mornington Peninsula produce with creativity and precision. The wine list brings together Lindenderry Estate’s Halliday-rated wines alongside Peninsula favourites and considered international selections.
At the Cellar Door, guests are invited to explore the full estate range in a relaxed, vineyard-side setting, offering a more informal counterpoint to the dining experience. At the heart of it all is the kitchen garden, created from a shared vision between chef, general manager and gardener. What is planted, harvested and served is closely considered, with raised timber beds protecting seasonal crops and a thoughtful mix of traditional and heirloom varieties grown for the kitchen. Companion planting brings the space to life, with edible flowers adding colour to both plate and landscape, while supporting the bees essential to pollination. A true expression of seasonality, the garden continues to shape the rhythm and flavours of Lancemore Lindenderry.
H. Do you cater for groups?
LLRH. Lindenderry has always been a place to gather, its name reflecting just that, Linden meaning “to gather” and derry “in the forest”.
Both The Dining Room and Cellar Door welcome groups, with experiences tailored to suit the occasion. For parties of more than eight, the team can arrange bespoke dining, from set menus to private dining options. The Cellar Door offers a more relaxed setting, with outdoor spaces and wood-fired pizzas well suited to casual gatherings, while families are warmly welcomed across the estate, particularly during seasonal moments such as the Easter Sunday egg hunt. Beyond dining, a range of flexible event spaces, from intimate rooms to a 120-square-metre venue with its own private deck, allows for celebrations of all styles and sizes.

The cellar door sits within the vineyard, looking out across the water to Bruny Island, offering a calm, immersive setting for tasting. Alongside our estate Mewstone wines, we also pour the hughes & hughes range, which brings together fruit from across Tasmania. Tastings are intimate and hosted by the team who grow and make the wines, creating a genuine connection between vineyard, place and glass.
H. Do you cater for groups?
MW. We focus on small, seated tastings to keep the experience relaxed and personal. Groups of between two and 10 are best suited to the space, with all visits guided by our team. Bookings are recommended, particularly over busy periods like Easter. While we can occasionally accommodate slightly larger groups at set times, our preference is to maintain an intimate environment centred around wine, conversation and a slower pace.

Pressing Matters
Pressing Matters say: Easter is a beautiful time to visit Pressing Matters. Early autumn in southern Tasmania brings crisp air, golden light and the kind of weather that invites a slow drive into wine country. Just 30 minutes from Hobart, our cellar door sits in the heart of the vineyard, offering a relaxed tasting experience with small plates and sweeping valley views. It is the sort of place to settle in for an afternoon after exploring Hobart or Richmond. Over Easter, that sense of escape feels especially appealing: local, scenic, and anchored by some of Tasmania’s most compelling cool-climate wines.
H. What makes your cellar door unique?
PM. Pressing Matters offers something quietly rare. A deeply site-driven experience, paired with the opportunity to explore beyond a single label. Set within our architectural-award-winning cellar door, designed to reflect our philosophy of precision, restraint, and a deep connection to the Coal River Valley landscape, the experience remains grounded in place while inviting broader discovery. While the focus is on our own single vineyard rieslings, pinot noir and chardonnay, guests can also enjoy a curated selection from across the Fogarty Hall portfolio, including Lowestoft and OSSA, alongside back vintages of Pressing Matters. It creates a broader conversation in the glass, spanning regions and styles while still anchored in Tasmania. Paired with oysters, platters, and a refined yet unfussy food offering, the experience feels both intimate and expansive at once.
H. Do you cater for groups?
PM. A short drive into the valley, a table among the vines, and an afternoon that unfolds at its own pace. Pressing Matters leans towards a more intimate style of hospitality, but we can certainly accommodate groups with a little planning. Smaller groups are easily hosted for tastings and shared plates, while larger bookings can be arranged in advance with tailored tasting formats to keep the experience cohesive. It is particularly well-suited to long lunches, celebrations and private gatherings that favour atmosphere over scale. For those visiting Hobart over Easter, it makes for an ideal group outing.
