Iconic riesling producer Pewsey Vale Vineyard is marking its 175th birthday next month. To celebrate, the Eden Valley winery will release its collector's edition of the 2022 Pewsey Vale Vineyard Estate Riesling complete with a heritage label on November 1. Only 1847 bottles, individually hand-numbered, have been produced in this very limited release.
Pewsey Vale is famed for its single variety estate (the winemaking team make riesling, and only riesling), which was first planted in 1847. The vineyard was purchased more than 60 years ago by the Hill-Smith Family (Yalumba, Jansz Tasmania and Dalrymple).
Winemaker Louisa Rose has been producing riesling under the Pewsey Vale label since 1996.
“The combination of climate, aspect, soil type and altitude of the vineyard, as well as careful, sustainable viticultural management, provide the perfect foundation to make outstanding Australian riesling. It's incredibly rare for all those elements to fall into place, which is precisely the reason we will only ever grow riesling at Pewsey Vale Vineyard.

Pale straw with green hues. Intense aromas of fine dried herbs, white flowers, lemons, lime and a hint of pineapple. A long, rich palate reminiscent of grapefruit, lime and fresh rosemary. The wine finishes with soft natural acidity that balances the flavour and minerality that is delicious now or will reward medium to long-term cellaring.Pewsey Vale pairing suggestion: Enjoy with fresh oysters, seared scallops, salt and pepper squid, Thai beef salad, or a tomato salad with pickled walnuts and fresh basil.
