The annual vintage release includes a new icon wine for the label.

Dating back to 1847 in the Barossa Valley, Krondorf Wines celebrates its rich history, remarkable old vines and unique sites with the release of its annual wine collection. Known for producing opulent wines that reflect the region, the 2023 collection continues to build on the winery’s legacy, comprising five outstanding wines. Hand-crafted with a minimalist approach to winemaking using hand-selected parcels of premium fruit, these small-batch wines are said to capture the essence of the Barossa Valley

“I like to take a minimalistic approach to things,” says Nick Badrice, Head Winemaker at Krondorf Wines. “It's about allowing the wines to express themselves and reflect the sites on which they're grown. The focus is on sourcing and growing the best-quality fruit, which is a key part of Krondorf Wines' philosophy.”

At the zenith of the collection is the Krondorf Icon 2019 King’s Mantle Shiraz, crafted from the Barossa’s finest and most expressive fruit parcels. Described as an ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’, the King’s Mantle is an intense, concentrated wine with dark chocolate and spice aromas leading to a long powerful finish.

“Our preeminent wine and new Icon, the Krondorf King’s Mantle Shiraz 2019, is the pinnacle of our craft. We search the length and breadth of the Barossa to identify the finest and most expressive fruit of the vintage,” says Nick. “The ultra-premium fruit that brings a perfect balance of classical and contemporary Barossa excellence.”

The 2023 Krondorf Wines Collection also includes four wines from the highly anticipated 2021 vintage, which was widely regarded as an exceptional year for the Barossa. These include the Krondorf 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Krondorf 2021 Stone Altar Shiraz and Stone Altar Grenache, the Krondorf 2021 Kingship Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Krondorf 2021 Old Salem Barossa Shiraz.
