Wineries
When you read the hyperbole that sometimes accompanies the acquisition of an existing wine business, about transforming it into a world-class operation, it is easy to sigh and move on. When self-confessed wine lover Ray Gatt acquired Eden Springs, he proceeded to translate words into deeds. As well as the 19.82-ha Eden Springs Vineyard, he also acquired the historic Siegersdorf Vineyard (19.43 ha) on the Barossa floor, and the neighbouring Graue Vineyard (11.4 ha). He then put contract winemakers Joanne Irvine and David Norman in charge, tapping into their long-established credentials. It was hardly surprising that a string of wine show medals should be bestowed on the wines, my personal appreciation of the wines also no surprise. Perhaps the most obvious feature is the exceptional value for money they represent. Exports to Hong Kong and other major markets.
