Kel Boynton has a beautiful vineyard, framed by Mt Feathertop rising above it. Overall, the red wines have always outshone the whites. The initial very strong American oak input has been softened in more recent vintages to give a better fruit/oak balance. The wines are released under the Boynton Reserve and Feathertop labels. The smoke and bushfires of the 2007 and '09 vintages have not stopped Kel from planting a spectacular array of varieties, headed by sauvignon blanc (2.5 ha), shiraz and pinot gris (2 ha each), merlot, savagnin and nebbiolo (1.5 ha each), cabernet sauvignon and sangiovese (1 ha each), then half a hectare each of tempranillo, pinot noir, pinot meunier, vermentino, chardonnay, riesling, friulano and semillon, culminating with a combined half-hectare of malbec, dornfelder and petit verdot. Exports to Austria.
