When Jeff and Sue Dans planted the first vines in 1974 on the family dairy farm, they chose 'Minya' as the name, an Aborignal word meaning 'place of many birds'. Birds and grapes don't always co-exist, but further plantings in 1982 and '88 suggest there were no problems here. The vineyard is planted to cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay (1.5 ha each), shiraz, grenache and gewurztraminer (0.25 ha each). An amphitheatre overlooking a picturesque billabong offers summer concerts and a venue for one-off events.
