While three generations of the family have been involved since Robert (Bob) Stein began the establishment of the vineyard, the chain stretches even further back, going to Bob's great- great-grandfather, Johann Stein, who was brought to Australia by the Macarthur family to supervise the planting of the Camden Park vineyard. Robert's son Drew and grandson Jacob have now taken over winemaking responsibilities. Jacob worked vintages in Italy, Canada, Margaret River and Avoca, but more particularly, in the Rheingau and Rheinhessen regions of Germany. It is no doubt the experience he gained there that led to the 2008 Riesling winning three trophies at the Mudgee Wine Show '09, and the 2009 winning the Riesling Trophy at the Winewise Small Winemakers Competition '09, and Best Riesling Trophy at the Cowra Wine Show '09.
