Rolf Blickling has established his vineyard (planted to riesling, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz) at an elevation of 950 m. Frosts in spring and April underline how cool the climate is, necessitating careful site selection. The cellar door also operates a lavender and eucalyptus oil distillery. This is the leader of the pack in New England, perhaps in part due to skilled contract winemaking in the Hunter Valley.
