The history of Otway Estate dates back to 1983, when the first vines were planted by Stuart and Eileen Walker. The current group of six family and friends, including winemaker Ian Deacon, have substantially expanded the scope of the business: there are now 6 ha of vineyard, planted primarily to chardonnay (3 ha) and pinot noir (2 ha) with small patches of riesling, semillon, sauvignon blanc and cabernet making up the remainder. The wines made from these plantings are sold under the Otway Estate label; wines made from contract-grown grapes in the region are marketed under the Yahoo Creek label. Exports to Canada.
