A winery steeped in tradition (with National Trust classification), which should be visited at least once by every wine-conscious Australian, and which makes wines – particularly red wines – utterly in keeping with that tradition. The essence of that heritage comes in the form of the tiny quantities of Shiraz made entirely from vines planted in 1860. In 2005 Tahbilk opened its wetlands project, with a series of walks connected (if you wish) by short journeys on a small punt. Serendipitous, perhaps, but the current release wines are absolutely outstanding, coinciding with the winery's 150th birthday (and concomitant celebrations). Exports to all major markets.

The following information was provided by Tahbilk.

Established in 1860 and owned by the Purbrick family since 1925, Tahbilk is one of Australia‘s most beautiful & historic wineries and offers a unique opportunity to “step back in time” with the Cellar Yard & Cellar Door buildings not too unchanged from their original state.
The original Winery building (backing onto the Goulburn River) houses Tahbilk’s Cellar Door where you can also view a changing display of items of historical interest, as well as exploring the original 1860 & 1875 underground cellars.
In 2005, this experience was complemented with the opening of the Tahbilk Wetlands & Wildlife Reserve and Wetlands Café which also incorporates a Dalfarras Tasting Bar. Dalfarras is a collaboration between winemaker Alister Purbrick (C.E.O. and chief winemaker at Tahbilk) and his artist wife Rosa – Alister crafting each Dalfarras release with selected works from Rosa’s portfolio reproduced on the labels. Visitors can now enjoy both the historic Tahbilk experience along with the contemporary offerings of the Wetlands Café – gourmet café cuisine and Tahbilk & Dalfarras wines - before choosing to walk the pathways and boardwalks of the Reserve or cruise (weekends and public holidays only) on dedicated Wetlands boats - an opportunity that would be unparalleled within the Australian winery tourism experience.
