Former long-serving Best's winemaker Simon Clayfield and wife Kaye are now doing their own thing. They planted 2 ha of shiraz and merlot between 1997 and '99, later adding 0.1 ha of durif. Additional grapes are purchased from local growers and, when the quality is appro- priate, incorporated in the Grampians Shiraz. Production is modest, but the quality is high. Exports to the US, Canada and Maldives.
