Wineries by regionThe nomination of the best wines of the regions has evolved in two ways: the 5 red stars for wineries with a particularly distinguished track record over the past 3 years, and 5 black stars for those which have been consistently at or near the top for this period. While I have deliberately refused to bind myself to this yardstick, the red-starred wineries have in almost all instances achieved 5-star ratings for each of the past 3 years, and most of those with black stars have had maximum ratings in 2 of the past 3 years, including (importantly) this year.
